This study aims to determine the effect of the sect Ahl al-Sunnah, specifically the Hanafi/Maturidite in Hasan Basri Çantay's thought, one of the scholar and political figures in the first term Republic of Turkey. Therefore, Çantay implies that has adopted which sect? Are there any issues with the sect bigotry in his statement? What is the place Ahl al-Sunnah consept in his mind? He also, is it to go any discrimination in Ahl al-Sunnah? Ahl al-Sunnah in general, especially Hanafi- Maturidite thought is there a special meaning for him? etc. Questions will be tried to be answered in this study.
